Philippine Pickleball Steps Onto the World Stage in Da Nang

Philippine pickleball is about to get one of its biggest international tests yet, with Team Philippines heading to the 2026 Pickleball World Cup in Da Nang, Vietnam, beginning August 30.

The Philippine Pickleball Federation earlier called for elite players interested in representing the country, with eligibility covering Filipino-born players, Philippine passport holders and qualifying permanent residents.

Now the team is taking shape. Recent Philippine reporting says a 38-player delegation will compete across Open, Under-18, Under-14, Kids and Seniors divisions. Players introduced at a Philippine Sportswriters Association forum included Ruben Gonzales, Nik Isagan, Kelsey Laurente and Fatima Amirul.

And this isn't a small gathering. Da Nang's official tourism portal says the event is expected to attract more than 4,900 athletes from over 80 countries and territories, with competition spread across multiple venues.
